It is only when we take up that call to die that we are free, or so William Stringfellow would have it.
Here is an interesting article from the left-evangelical wing. One might ask if CWOB undermines Christian witness and our willingness to live into the rather strong Baptismal vows?
I love this quote and use it frequently when talking about discipleship at the church. The words are so much more profound knowing that Blessed Dietrich did follow Christ to the grave.
How about that for a Seeker service? “New life? Feel-good spirituality? Perhaps later. But first, let’s talk about death . . .”

Or how about this: “Let me tell you about a belief worth dying for…” ;-)
Or how about: “Dude, I’m gonna tell you something that’ll just kill you! No, seriously, man…”

Again I quote our Dame Julian:
“The soul can do nothing except seek, suffer, and trust.”
The call “Follow me” carries no other guarantees — especially none that promise it will all be fun-and-games.
Man, what a downer! What happened to “God wants you to be rich”?
Lee- that is the greatest profile pic ever!
