Chanted Episcopal Daily Office

My wife just sent me a link to this new(?) podcast after I heard her singing along to it when I delivered her morning coffee. When I ventured onto Facebook (a rare occasion these days, but becoming more frequent), I saw some friends mentioning it positively as well. So, here for your evaluation is The Daily Office Chanted by Scott Dettra!

Check it out and let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Thanks for passing this along. Scott Dettra’s The Daily Office Chanted is a lovely podcast, and I commend him for the time, energy, and whatever copyright work it takes to put together.
My one complaint is how often the same plainsong canticle settings from the Hymnal 1982 come around. Hearing the Magnificat sung to Tonus Peregrinus every other Evening Prayer gets dull. I’d also love to hear Howard Galley’s antiphons before and after the psalms. I understand why he made these choices, though. The podcast serves people who may only have the prayer book and the Hymnal 1982, not the Plainsong Psalter or Galley’s The Prayer Book Office. My Anglo-Catholic heart would like just a bit **more**, but it’s still better than anything on the Daily Office that’s been out there before..

Derek — Thanks for the mention! The podcast is new-ish: I launched it on Advent Sunday 2025, so we’re approaching the one-year mark. It originally offered daily MP and EP, and I added Compline a few months ago. Glad to hear your wife has been listening!
